FAQ

Where does the 10% go?

10% of every sale - gross, not profit - goes to Life For Unity, an international humanitarian foundation working mainly in Kenya and Nepal, where it builds and supports schools, provides daily meals, and delivers basic medical care to vulnerable children and families in underserved communities. I’ll publish the figures quarterly on our website because I'd expect anyone making this claim to do the same.

How long until my order ships?

Each shirt is printed once you order it - digitally, in the EU. We need 3-5 business days before dispatch, and after that, delivery takes 2-4 days within the EU and longer beyond. You'll get a tracking link the moment yours ships.

What sizes do you offer, and how do they fit?

Sizes XS to XXL, in Stanley/Stella's unisex Creator 2.0 cut. The fit is true to size for most people; if you're between two sizes, our experience is that the smaller one keeps its shape better over years. Detailed measurements are in the Size Guide.

If something doesn't fit when it arrives, returns are straightforward - see below.

What's your returns policy?

30 days from delivery. Unworn, tags on, in original condition.

Email [hello@thewomengroundbreakers.com] and we'll send a return label. You'll have the refund within a week of us receiving it back.

Defective or damaged items get replaced or refunded at our cost, no questions - just send a photo.

You can read our full Returns Policy here.

How did you choose these women?

Mostly by reading. I started with Rosalind Franklin, after finding a book that listed thirty inventors and only one woman among them. From there it became a research project: who else had I never been taught about? The collection is what I found over the next few years. It is deliberately not the obvious list. You can read more detail (and see some photos of the creative process) on the Story page.

Why is your shirt more expensive than fast-fashion alternatives?

Because we pay more for the things that should cost more. The blank is Stanley/Stella's Creator 2.0 - GOTS-certified organic cotton, made under Fair Wear Foundation standards. The printing is digital DTG, which holds painted detail much better than the screen printing used in mass production. 10% of the sale goes to Life For Unity.

None of those are optional for the brand we want to be. The price is what it costs us to make this shirt without compromising any of them.

Why is the shirt made in Bangladesh?

Because Stanley/Stella is one of the most credibly ethical apparel suppliers in Europe, and most of their organic cotton garments are made in Bangladesh under Fair Wear Foundation audits. We chose them over closer-to-home alternatives that don't have the same supply-chain transparency. The shirt is printed digitally in the EU once you order it.

Will the print fade?

Like any printed garment, the print holds best when washed inside out, in cold water, and air-dried. Done that way, the colours stay close to original for several years of regular wear.

The first wash will make the print slightly softer to the touch - that's normal. If yours ever fades or cracks faster than that, write to us. We want to know.

Why don't you have a sale?

Because the price is the price. We've set it as low as we can without compromising the materials, the printing, or the 10% to Life For Unity. A sale would either eat into one of those, or admit that the original price was higher than it needed to be. Neither would be honest.

The exception is the occasional founding-member welcome (a small discount for the first newsletter subscribers) which is a thank-you, not a sale.
